Crossings.. What's the diff?

Do you know the difference between a pedestrian crossing and a courtesy crossing?

Phew.. that was close!

Have you had a close shave or count your lucky stars moment while out on your bike or on your feet lately? If so, we have created a register where you can log your near miss. Although we receive statistics from NZTA, it is difficult to know how many near misses take place, and where. This data will help us to build safe cycle ways and identify where the danger zones are on existing cycle ways.

Share with Care

With spring rapidly approaching, our CyWay network is also growing so it is timely to re-introduce the 'Share with Care' message. The CyWay network is predominantly made up of shared paths which has highlighted the need to educate users about shared path etiquette. Over the next 12 months a variety of messages will be rolled out that are aimed at all shared path users as well as motorists.

Work begins on Western Heights Link

Gordon Road is where it's at! The curb and channel (gutter) was in bad shape and needed replacing badly, so work has started there. Click on the header to see details of route.

Ranolf to CBD Street Project

Rotorua's newest CyWay project. This shared path will run the length of Ranolf Street and will provide a safe off-road link between Rotorua's southern suburbs, local schools, the inner city and the Lakefront.

Rotorua is the perfect place to explore by bike.. we have a temperate climate, minimal hills and a growing CyWay network - not to mention world class mountain biking on our doorstep!
